Belfast City Council Be Warm

Maxol Direct now accept payments from customers using Belfast City Council Oil Stamps

Help spread the cost of your home heating bills this winter by collecting oil stamps through the Belfast City Council ‘Be Warm’ saving scheme.

You can buy £5 stamps from a number of retail outlets throughout the city, including local shops, post offices, credit unions and leisure centres.

Many people found it hard to cope financially during last year’s severe cold spell. But if you start saving now through this scheme, you’ll find it easier to deal with your heating bills this winter.

Tommy Mervyn is a pensioner who lives in north Belfast along with his wife and youngest son.  Mr Mervyn has been using oil stamps since they were introduced in 2009. Mr Mervyn explains, “I had previously used a Paypoint card but now I prefer to use oil stamps which I buy at the local post office because they are much easier to use and more flexible.”

Paul Hackett, General Manager of Maxol Direct comments, “Many of our customers find the oil stamps to be a safe and easy method of budgeting for home heating oil. They are increasingly popular with our customers.”

The Be Warm scheme has been running since January 2009 and since then Belfast residents have bought over £150,000
worth of stamps to help budget their home heating bills.
